Michelle Yeoh Breaks Down 'Everything Everywhere All at Once' Scene with Directors | Vanity Fair 영화/애니메이션
this movie... the audience cheered, they laughed, they gasped and they cried audibly in the theater. im glad this was my pick for my first time back after the pandemic. seriously, go see it if you can. its a shame that between the release timing, and the nostalgic reboots, and the imperialistic wars, and the slap memes, that this is gonna be forgotten by next years oscars. Because this is the kind of movie that reminds you that the art and the magic of film and storytelling is very much alive.
@Eleceno K yeah that too! It had it all. I’d go see it again but it’s already gone. I know I will see it again. I hope I will have another chance on the big screen!
Couldn’t agree more. I was so happy I saw this in the theatres. It felt very new but also an homage to cinema.
You forgot super cringe at the paper cut sounds omgg
It’s my new favorite movie! It had everything you could possibly imagine ,and the
I usually watch in silence... I was laughing, crying, shouting during this
This Movie is MUST SEE. I was stunned after watching it last night. Truely a spectacular peice of art.
@Rampagez Nah. Take a plain
Nah this movie really is amazing. I had no clue what I was about to see
It looks it.
TERRIBLE and disgusting!
Yes let me go see it in its whole 10 theaters its playing 🙄 seriously there were such few actual places playing it though
I expected Michelle Yeoh to be amazing, but Ke Huy Quan absolutely blew me away. He's sooo good in this film, and he most definitely deserves an Oscar for this performance. You absolutely know who he is every moment no matter what is going on.
Especially when he got into his smooth Tony Leung vibes this man is an actor very rare to find one actor that can fill three roles of himself so well
@Steven Mejia His line there like (paraphrasing) "this is how I fight", juxtaposed with his other self who was afraid and confused, was so important to pulling off the ending. He did both parts so well.
hope he gets cast in way more things after this! he deserves it. so talented.
Short round wins best dad award hands down 😁👍
His speech in the celebrity universe was amazing. The whole vibe of that universe was my favorite.
I’ve never left a movie feeling like “oh this is what it was like when people left Star Wars or The Matrix” until last night when I saw this.
@Erik Serrano horrible “films”, including avatar, make tons of money at the box office. That doesn’t mean they are meaningful pieces of art. Some “films” are pop art at best.
@Solid Snake ummm..2.8 Billion dollars at the box office disagrees with the 15$ you spent to watch avatar...lol. I think you should leave lol
100% this gave me matrix vibes. The world building, the story, screenplay, soundtrack... all was top notch. That moment when she learned to fight, I wanted her to say "I know Kung Fu" like Neo. Would have been a perfect tip of the hat to Matrix.
@Erik Serrano avatar? I think you should leave
Nailed it. Exactly how I felt.
Michelle Yeoh is a legend. I love every role she's in.
@CyborgChicken discover was on another spectrum cyborg.
Me too!
The Legend of Fong Sai-Yuk is my favorite movie of hers
@CyborgChicken long
@m an her career goes waaaay further back than that, she's mostly been in Chinese martial arts films dating back to 1985...but her more famous movies would be as the bond girl in Tomorrow Never Dies, alongside Jackie Chan in Police Story 3 Super Cop, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and it's sequel, Memoirs of a Geisha, Crazy Rich Asians....but trust me, she's been around for a long time and she's always been an action star...all of her early films were action roles...if you want to see lead female roles done right in terms of action films, go watch some of her older films like Yes Madam, Royal Warriors, Magnificent Warriors, Wing Chun, SilverHawk, The Heroic Trio and it's sequel Executioners
Just saw it. Immediately became a fav of all time. Incredible movie. I cant believe i had the honor and privilege of viewing this movie with my own eyes
I remember I saw the trailer forever ago and a month or so ago I watched it like 3 times in a row. I thought maybe it could be my favorite movie ever. I saw it and It absolutely is my favorite movie I've ever seen. Gonna see it again tomorrow 😁
!!!
Same here
I feel like people will be judgmental of the silly parts of this movie, but my mom & I both agreed that the movie would be far too sad and serious without it! This was a wonderful experience to see this with my mom, thank you!!!
@八雲紫 Exactly same! This movie made me feel all the emotions all at once😉😃
The silly parts of the movie were the best parts. I’m sick of generic action movies that I genuinely prefer absurd stuff like the occasional bouts in this one than the same generic stunts, shootouts, fights and explosions with stupid monologuing.
One of the best movies of all time. This movie was simultaneously side splittingly hilarious, and gut wrenchingly profound and beautiful all at once. An instant classic, and I hope it gets the shine it deserves!
Go see “Everything Everywhere All at Once” IMMEDIATELY! One of the craziest, most mind-bending, insane, imaginative, out-of-this-world movies I’ve ever seen! Mind. Blown. 🤯 MCU’s multiverse ain’t got nothin on this. Michelle Yeoh is legendary! Seeing it again ASAP. What a trip!!
@J.G nah not a joke bro
Lol I know this comment is a joke but yeah
this movie is just perfection, the closer to it is Spiderman into the spiderverse and I don't think marvel will top that or this movie at all!
Anyone scrolling through the comments thinking, "Wow, the hyperbole here is out of control. These people need to calm down." What if I told you this movie deserves every bit of praise it's getting? Actually it deserves more because you haven't seen it and when you do, you'll join us in heaping praise upon the film.
i agree!!
I'm like trying to spread the word so more people go watch it in the theatres so that more movies like this could be made in the future.
This is obviously Michelle Yeoh’s film, but all the principal actors are so fantastic! Ke Huy Quan is running at 120% efficiency.
I haven’t been wowed by a movie in this way since Spider-Verse. A visual and thematic masterpiece while also being surprisingly heartfelt. Audiences will be hard pressed to find something as amazing as this, especially considering Hollywood’s reliance on rehashing / regurgitating previous films; Everything Everywhere All At Once is certified fresh.
The first time in my life I’ve walked out of a theatre and actively thought to myself, “That was the best movie I’ve ever seen.” What people are saying is true- this is a masterpiece. Go watch it.
This movie was so incredibly rad and I hope it gets all the accolades it deserves, but ESPECIALLY the editing. Holy cow was that a complex movie.
Yes, the editing was incredible!
Just saw this movie, it’s great. If you’re bored of the corporate sameness of blockbusters then you need to put your money where your mouth is and see it.
Also I have the biggest crush on Michelle Yeoh. She is absolutely magnetic.
Yes!! Corporate blockbusters love to be safe to ensure their films make money, but they sacrifice creativity. This movie is such a masterpiece because it’s so insanely ambitious and well executed.
Went to watch this movie expecting to get some fun...which I did get a lot of. But I also cried, which I did not expect. Though all the craziness, this is a beautiful and emotional film with a clear message about the important things in life. The more I think about it, the more I love it and the higher it climbs in my all time favs
As an actor, she has no fear and plenty of imagination. Alpha Class talent.
“I understood that reference.”
@T French this is what I wrote
The future already knows what you will do in your life. Everything. You will have already done it. It is their past and therefore set in stone and cannot be changed. You have no choice but to live that life. You can't change it. Do we actually have free will at all?
@T French dude. I posted that very thing a few days ago on my FB page. Weird.
@Alan CarnellYour timeline jumping. Watch the movie and you will find out what your future self knows about the movie that your present self does not, lol.
Huh?
I really want this movie to be successful! original concept movies need more recognition
It pleased me to no end that the theater I saw this film in was almost full of people, all passionately invested in the story and reacting the whole way through, whereas the the theater for Morbius was empty save for a few disinterested people who fell asleep or nearly fell asleep- I can’t help but feel that the tides are turning a bit
I have never audibly laughed and cried like I did during this movie
Same. And it calibrated my laughter up several notches. I was laughing SO HARD in the car afterwards.
I saw this movie off 4 edibles and hotbox session 10 minutes before watching the movie. One of the best decisions I ever made. This movie is is like those watch while high videos especially in the last 20 minutes. I literally felt my spirit leave me my body. It felt like a universal studios ride.
I haven’t gotten the chance to watch it absolutely blitzed yet but I agree, as a smoker this is one of those movies where you HAVE to watch it high at least once.
Where'd you get the edibles?! I need it for my second viewing.
🧡❤️🧡
Michelle Yeoh has blown me away in every performance I've seen of her. I truly think she is one of the most stellar actresses out there and I'm so glad Crazy Rich Asians happened because I think so many people, including me, would've never been introduced to the absolute force of nature that is Michelle Yeoh. Really shows the importance of representation in film.
or rather, the importance of actively seeking out the cinema of other cultures instead of waiting for some nebulous "representation" in Hollywood
Sensational on every level - cannot understate how incredible this movie is!!
This movie absolutely rules.
If for some reason you're reading this and you're on the fence, just go see it. It's one of the best films ever made,.
You convinced me. I’m gonna see it!
Watching the way these guys break down their scenes has shown me how the movie turned out the way it did, lol. These directors seem so chill and quirky that it's reflected in their movie.
I've seen this film twice already and plan on seeing it again tomorrow. It's such an incredible film.
the most wildly creative, original film I have ever seen.
this movie easily is one of my new all time favourites. i cried at not only the emotional scenes, but also found myself crying at scenes just because of how well done they were. it felt so refreshing to see a movie this incredible. thank you, thank you, thank you for making it.
Man, I'd love to see a version of this movie with commentary, it feels like so much went into it that I've missed even on a second watch.
The rock scene was probably one of my favorites. No speech, just witty lines
I hope this movie gets the recognition it deserves in the awards next year this is such a big contender. No movie in recent years have made me feel what I felt walking out of the theatre...
As someone who deals with depression, nihilism, and constant existential dread, this movie was much needed
At almost 60, Michelle Yeoh is such a beautiful woman inside and out. She was amazing in this film.
This is now my favorite movie I have ever seen. And my favorite movie has only changed about two times in my entire life. I just watched it tonight with my roommates and we talked about it for hours afterwards. I’m already planning to see it for a second time. It was insane, unreal, and every other synonym of crazy you can think of. Please go watch it. It will change the way you look at things. Even if it doesn’t, it’s just a beautiful piece of art and literally unlike anything I’ve ever seen, which is such a rarity especially these days. I literally feel gratitude towards everyone who had a hand in this film and worked so hard to make it into a reality.
The Daniels have an uncanny ability to make movies that are incredibly absurd but also so emotionally profound. If you liked this please check out “Swiss Army Man”
This film is beyond adjectives for me. Awesome, amazing, incredible doesn't do this movie justice. I loved every nanosecond. I hope this film gets the recognition it deserves and Oscars for all involved. It's THAT good.
Love it when Vanity Fair does Notes on a Scene. Love seeing the directors point of view.
This is more than a movie. This film changed my life. It made me feel everything snd express several emotions. I laughed, cried, cheered , everything. Not the best of the year, not the decade, it is the best film of all time.
The fact that this was craft during the hardship of pandemic is freaking amazing!!!
The best movie I have seen in the last 20 years. I was speechless and promptly went back to watch it again the next day.
Love them all. An homage and a tribute to so many things and a great showcase of the ability of Michelle and Ke. Top movie for me all time.
Been in love with Michelle since, "Crouching Tiger". I've aged greatly. Yet she remains timeless. ❤❤❤
we need oscars all around for this movie, IMMEDIATELY
Such a crazy off the wall movie thats very heart warming. How crazy is that... in the end such a wonderful movie about family
This movie was magic and deserves all the love and rewatches! One of my all time favorite/ best movies! 15/10!
watched this last week and felt such a wide sprectrum of emotions in the span of only 2 hours. best movie of my life and marked as an all time favorite already.
Michelle Yeoh is such a generous performer and humble person. I love hearing her talk about film. I wish she had a podcast.
Idk if I'll ever find the words to explain how mind blowingly original, entertaining, thought provoking and beautiful this film is
It’s going to be hard for any movie to outdo what this movie did, this year, if not ever
Everyone here has said everything I totally agree with and would say myself. But let's give credit to the Daniels turning Jamie Lee Curtis into Michael freaking Myers. She was terrifying and badass and grouchy. I'm surprised there was more of her in the movie then let on. I LOVED EM ALL
I need this movie in my life ASAP. I wish it were playing anywhere near me. Hopefully it has a digital release in it's near future because this thing looks incredible. Michelle Yeoh is having an amazing run at the moment.
@Elle Mars i read things like this and makes me grateful that I live in a place where movies like this and even smaller ones are regularly showed
Saaame. I've been checking movie releases in my country, and it doesn't look like it's gonna be released here at all... T_T
I don't know how wide the release will be, but a wider release is coming on the 8th!
LOVE LOVE LOVED this movie. I'm probably going to need to watch it 5 more times to absorb it. The entire cast is so so good. 💕
This was the most fun I’ve ever had at the cinema, and I go weekly. Blew me away on all levels and have already seen it 3 times. Seeing it in IMAX was especially spectacular. One of the only films that made me cry/sob while watching.
Respect to these guys vision , I was in absolute awe when I first saw this . Very cinematic experience . My favorite movie this year fs ! Kudos to the ppl involved with this film 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Listen, I never get emotional during movies. For this film to make me a little emotional really says something about how impactful it was. It hit me on a personal level too
Movie was simply amazing. Masterpiece for real.
this movie is a masterpiece
The COSMIC GUMBO line he snuck in there at the end hahahah genius. I expect the Daniels to be directing the next Detective Crashmore film.
I literally gasped you can tell how proud he is for setting it up so naturally
Yeah that's his quote
This movie is gonna make 2mil
LMAO I was exited to see Santa getting more roles too
Casting stole my heart ❤️ everyone was PHENOMENAL
This film is absolutely amazing, and a masterpiece in my opinion.
The movie is brilliant, even though it's chaotic. Didn't regret watching it at the cinema! And of course, I was watching it for Michelle Yeoh 😁
Absolutely magical film! I feel like one of the best ever made
Such an incredible movie! Loved it so much! Yeoh is amazing as always, but the directors and crew did an outstanding job!
a masterpiece! watched it my second time today and still laughed and cried just as much as the first.
this movie will go down as one of the best classics of all time. a must watch!
truly a gem of a movie!!! just watched it and it's SO good
This is one of my favorite movies of all time. I left in awe and cried in my car. It quite literally changed me haha
I wish I could forget this movie, just so I'd be able to see it again for the first time. It's THAT good!
I expected Michelle Yeoh to be amazing, but Ke Huy Quan absolutely blew me away. He's sooo good in this film, and he most definitely deserves an Oscar for this performance. You absolutely know who he is every moment no matter what is going on.
I was at the Sydney Premiere yesterday. I cried of joy. This is an amazing movie.
Can’t wait for this film to blow up, it was an absolutely incredible cinema experience
a masterpiece actually, with michelle yeoh playing the leading role beautifully. go watch it if you haven't!!!!
Everyone did such a wonderful job, I loved the movie so much!! The movie coming out at this moment in time is also important. Hope everybody can see this in the theaters.
Every award, every nomination, all at once for this movie please!
A masterpiece of cinema. I feel so lucky to have seen it.
Best movie I’ve seen in a long time. I’m so glad I saw it in theatres. Incredible!
Stunning film, it does so much in its runtime it's honestly hard to believe. This film seems like a miracle.
This movie immediately made it to my top 2 fav movie of all time! I wept, laugh, and love all at once
One the best scene breakdowns! Love these guys and Michelle Yeoh.
aw i love that Michelle was there too with the directors! I bet they were all like a family on the set
This is my favorite movie of all time and I don’t say that lightly!! Seeing it in theaters again today!!
I re-watched this masterpiece 3x already....this movie is DEEP!
Michelle, Ke and Jamie deserve Oscar nominations. Excellent movie
Michelle yo seems to really love acting. Especially the bizarre projects. She also seems to be really close with her co stars and production teams
I watched this movie today and loved it! I just wish for the breakdown the Daniels let Michelle speak more because in the latter half she barely said anything. I really hope I see more of her interviews for this film because right now I'm not finding that many ://
They had a clear vision and they were able to execute how amazing. Also it’s great to see older actress playing more interesting roles
Truly one of the best movies I have seen in a very long time. Incredible
I’ve seen it 4 times. I’ll probably go at least 2 more. It is my perfect movie.
Watched it twice. Great movie, great laughs, great cries
I would watch them breakdown this entire movie for hours if it became available
I LOVED THIS MOVIE!!! AWARDS AWARDS AWARDS!
This movie made me laugh, gasp, and cry several times
Just watched it! Masterpiece! Movie of the decade for me!
Michelle Yeoh is a national treasure, we must protect her at all costs
No matter how often I see the jump at 8:48, it always catches me by surprise how it comes out of pretty much nothing and at such an early stage of the movie at that. It's just such a ridiculous but mesmerizing scene.
Great movie, truly entertaining and thought provoking.
I'm still thinking about this movie 2 weeks after watching it. Going to see it again next Tuesday! 10/10
Quite possibly one of the greatest movie ever made….
I saw this yesterday with my wife, this movie is actually just perfect.
first movie i saw in theaters since covid started, could not stop crying at the end. Even after lights came on, I was still crying. Easily the best movie I have ever seen
